I’ve had Melodic Forest's Yula Handpan 9-Note D Kurd (440Hz, 55cm) for about three months, typically using it in public spaces (not busking or gigs as such) as well as while volunteering in hospital settings.
It’s in tune, and being stainless steel, it has that desired resonate sustain. It responds well to dynamics and to articulations like finger rolls. The shoulder tone has a nice ceramic edge, and the ding has a lovely bloom that doesn’t cover the other tones.
In terms of playability, I can activate most of the harmonics easily (the octave and fifth above the octave). The higher ones (F4, G4 and A4) are still a work in progress, but they’re there, and I’m confident they’ll come with time.
The bag isn’t a hard case per se, but it’s well-padded and secure.
It’s holding up well in a changeable climate (cold to hot with variable relative humidity). I’m following the care instructions and give it some love with Phoenix Oil.
I’d happily buy another from the Yula range - a Hijaz model would be amazing (something like C#3, G#3, B3, C#4, D4, F4, F#4, G#4, B4!).
I have been so impressed by the sound the Yula 10 note d Kurd handpan makes. It’s amazing quality and has excellent sustain. It came very quickly in the mail, packaged and protected perfectly. It came with a hard case carrier as well to protect it. It’s high quality also. The team are also super friendly and helped me work out which handpan to choose. I’m sure I’ll be back at some point to purchase another one in a different scale! If you’re hesitating or on the fence - do it!

Thank you Melodic Forest, for my Beautiful YULA Amara F2 9+1 432hz handpan, I finally received it, I have found it to be very calming and enjoyable for exploring my endless choices with my music creation, I am 62 years old and have wanted my own handpan for a very long time, the sound is my therapy to help cope with the recent loss of my beautiful wife, I ordered the (F2 Low) 432hz to perfectly match my 8 Crystal Singing bowls, and when played together it is certainly a peaceful combination, I'm looking forward to many years playing.
